A guide from FraJo / FraJo Lighting
Planning lighting for a pitch or sports hall
Evening training, a school hall and an industrial workspace have different needs. Start a lighting brief with the activities and operating hours of the space. FraJo Lighting plans and installs systems around the way each facility is used.

Define what the light is for
Describe the sport, training or competition use and any camera coverage. For a hall, include court layouts and ceiling height. For an industrial building, explain the workstations and shifts. This brief helps identify the design requirements. A count of luminaires alone does not explain how the light will work throughout the space.
Consider how the light is distributed
Sports lighting should consider uniformity, glare and light spilling into the surroundings. The design therefore needs the area dimensions, mast or structure locations and nearby buildings. These principles are also discussed in the FIFA technical guidance linked below.
Discuss installation and operation together
Prepare photos of the existing installation and any available power-supply information. Explain whether the whole space or separate zones need control. Compare the agreed installation scope, controls and maintenance access in each quote. Assess expected consumption against the actual design and operating hours rather than a generic savings percentage.
